Printed fabrics
Working with Hilary Lowe at Damson and Slate and using patterns in the house as inspiration - on floor tiles, fireplaces and in stained glass windows - we asked Nick Thomas at Alexander Maverick to interpret and print the ideas as designs for fabrics, some of which have been made into curtains and cushions. The pattern on the new dining room curtains, for example, is taken from the rose motif on the tiles in the dining room fireplace (a new curtain track means they glide open and shut, unlike their predecessors!).
New curtains in the Saddlery cottage living room are based on the floor tiles in the main hall of Treberfydd, as are the bench cushions in the wagon. The pattern on the wagon curtains is taken from a detail in a stained glass window.
We plan to create more of these fabrics, and more furnishings, linking the self-catering accommodation with the house and bringing to life some of the beautiful and ornate detail in its historical features.
