Film, TV and photo shoots
Treberfydd has been used as the location for a number of films and television dramas. In the 1970s, these included two episodes of the BBC series Kilvert's Diary, and more recently a romantic comedy for German television, and fashion shoots. In 2012, the house appeared in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, ‘The Snowmen’, starring Matt Smith and featuring Richard E. Grant. Please click here to see a trailer for the show.
This was the second visit from the Time Lord. In the spring of 2007, BBC Wales filmed two episodes of the popular sci-fi series at Treberfydd, both starring David Tennant. These episodes, ‘The Family of Blood’ and ‘Human Nature’, were set in 1913 and used the house as a boys' school. They have both been rated as among the very best of the revived series. As a result, Treberfydd House is a popular stop for Doctor Who fans in groups organised by the Brit Movie Tours.
Award-winning short film Tweaks by Jasper Warry, starring Simon Callow and Dan Skinner, made good use of the billiard room in 2019 - click here for the trailer.
